ISLAMABAD - Pakistani security forces killed four terrorists who attacked a residential complex of a key dam near the northwestern city of Peshawar on Friday, the military said.

A group of four suicide bombers with arms and ammunition entered Christian colony of Warsak Dam, some 30 km north of Peshawar, after hitting a security guard on Friday morning, the army spokesman said.

"Security Forces promptly responded and surrounded the area. Exchange of fire took place and all four terrorists were killed," the spokesman said in a statement.

Two paramilitary soldiers, a police constable and two civilian guards were injured in exchange of fire with the terrorists, he said. The forces also launched a house to house search to apprehend facilitators of the terrorists.

The spokesman said the situation is now under control.

Sources said the gunmen entered the area from the nearby Khyber tribal region that borders Afghanistan.

Security sources said the militants had crossed the border from eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar.

TV footage showed army soldiers were on the road leading to the colony area.
