Foreign Ministers of China and Russia have voiced shared alert against "external forces that prompt regional tension by fabricating excuse and internationalize issues concerning bilateral disputes".

The alert was issued as Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Vientiane, Laos, on Monday.

The two senior diplomats were meeting on the sidelines of a range of meetings regarding East Asian cooperation.

They held in-depth talks on the upcoming G20 leaders summit in eastern China's Hangzhou city, the Korean peninsula issue as well as the situation in the East Asia and in the South China Sea.

Wang said the Chinese side is willing to see Russia "play an increasingly proactive and constructive role in the East Asia as well as the entire Asia-Pacific".

Lavrov echoed Wang's speaking highly of the recent visit paid by Russian President Vladimir Putin to China.

Lavrov said the joint statements and cooperative documents issued during the visit "presents the shared positions over furthering two-way ties and major international and regional issues".
