On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping said a safe and stable cyberspace is of great significance for world peace and development.
Xi made the comment when meeting with the delegation from China and the US at the 8th US-China Internet Industry Forum in Seattle.
He also said, from the people's daily life to the safety of a nation's infrastructure, the Internet is everywhere. It is a big issue for all countries to govern and make good use of it. No one can be a bystander to this issue.
He added that China, besides advocating building a peaceful, safe, open and cooperative cyberspace, proposes that all the nations enact Internet public policies which are in accordance with their particular conditions.
China and the US are two great powers of the Internet with important common interests and ample space for cooperation.
The two sides should carry out conversations about cyber issues on the basis of mutual respect and trust in order to benefit the people of both countries.
