"Come on President Xi Jinping, we love you!" "Let's go for world peace!" That's what youngsters from the Republic of Korea (ROK) said to Chinese President Xi in a video clip that spread online in the ROK before the V-Day commemoration parade to be held in Beijing on Sept. 3.
The video is designed to promote China-ROK friendship before the V-Day victory commemorations through both countries' youngsters. It was filmed by Sunfull, a Korean non-profit organization that counters bullying and hateful comments that are posted on the Internet. The campaign was started by Professor Min Byung-chul of Gachon University in May 2007.
In the video, Chinese youngsters welcome the visit of ROK President Park Geun-hye to China and wished for a long-standing friendship between the two nations. A female student says in the clip that she hopes to become a woman like President Park and contribute to the friendship between the two nations.
President Xi met Park Geun-hye in Beijing on Wednesday where Xi said China and the ROK are friendly neighbors and both have been committed to keeping world peace. Xi said people of the two countries stood together in the war against Japanese aggression and in World War II made an important contribution to the victory of the Allied Forces.
