CSR Corp's high-speed train technology and a model of the world's fastest train, were among the main attractions at the 17th Business on Rails exhibition in Brazil.
The CRH380A model, made by China-owned CSR, the world's largest manufacturer of electric locomotives, was especially focused on by the more than 8,000 visitors who attended the three-day event in Sao Paulo.
More than 200 global companies exhibited their products at the exhibition that ended Nov 14.
"I've heard about the high-speed train model. It's top-notch and runs very fast," said Daniel, a staff worker at Sao Paulo Metro Co, while visiting the CSR booth. "It would only take about 40 minutes to travel between Rio and Sao Paulo if the two cities were connected by such kind of trains. But currently it takes us a whole night by bus."
The CRH380A model was not the only CSR-made equipment that debuted in Brazil.
"We also brought to the Latin American market for the first time the urban MU CRH6 subway model with the same technologies as Beijing's Line 14 subway, and others," said Bi Yupeng, general manager of CSR (Brazil) Corp Ltd.
"The Latin American market has huge potential and has become one of our major target markets," said Cao Gangcai, CSR'S second chief economist. "Overseas revenue is expected to account for 20 percent of the company's total in two or three years."
The company's hybrid buses were put into operation in Brazil just before the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
China's rail brands have yet to be fully recognized in the Brazilian market, said Zhao Tianjun, deputy head of the technology center of Qiqihar Railway Rolling Stock Co Ltd, a subsidiary of CNR Corp Ltd, during the exhibition. "We need to have faith and patience in this respect."
Besides models of high-speed trains, locomotives and trucks, railway signal-control technologies developed by other Chinese companies also were exhibited in the event.
