Premier Li Keqiang said China is willing to speed up construction of the Albania-Macedonia highway to improve regional connectivity during a meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tianjin on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Li also said China will import more agricultural and mining products from Albania and will encourage more Chinese enterprises to join local infrastructure construction.

The two leaders agreed to promote high-level government exchanges and push forward cooperation in all aspects as the two countries are celebrating their 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

Rama said Albania welcomes investment by Chinese companies, and China-Albania cooperation is beneficial to the stability and development of Central and Eastern Europe.

Rama came to attend the World Economic Forum's Summer Davos Forum in Tianjin, which is scheduled from Wednesday to Friday.

The highway project linking Albania and nearby Macedonia, which is also a Central and Eastern European country, is part of China’s increasing involvement in local infrastructure construction. China, Serbia and Hungary also announced last year that they will promote the upgrade of a railway connecting the capitals of the two European countries.
