TEHRAN - Iran successfully test-fired a long-range missile on Sunday, the state IRIB TV quoted the Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan as saying.

Designed and manufactured by Irani experts, the missile, named "Emad," "is Iran's first long-range missile that can be guided and controlled until hitting the target," Dehghan said.

It is able to destroy the targets with high precision, the Iranian minister said without further details on the technical specificities and range of the missile.

"Iran will never seek anybody's permission for enhancement of its deterrent power and missile capabilities," he added.

The Islamic Republic has the largest ballistic missile arsenal in the Middle East and has developed a 2,000 km missile.
