KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian police arrested three suspects in connection with the investigation into a bomb attack in Bangkok, Thailand, last month, Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu said here Monday.

The three suspects including two male and one female were arrested and detained a few days ago after a tip-off by the Thai authorities, he said.

One of the male suspects was Pakistani, while the other two were Malaysians, Khalid said, adding that the police was not sure whether the main suspect of the bomb blast was in Malaysia now.

The police chief said that the suspects would not be handed over to Thai police just yet. "We feel there is no need at present to hand them over to the Thai authorities," he said.

The Malaysian police had been working together with their Thai colleagues, he added.

The explosion at the Erawan Shrine in downtown Bangkok about a month ago killed at least 20 people and injured more than 120 others.
