KABUL - A total of 100 militants have been killed in Afghanistan amid operations carried out by the Afghan National Army (ANA) throughout the country since early Saturday, the country's Defense Ministry said on Sunday morning.
"Some 100 terrorists were killed, 35 wounded and one terrorist was detained after ANA carried out military and cleanup operations over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.
The statement also confirmed losing 12 ANA personnel within the same period.
The army specialists found and defused 30 roadside bombs and landmines in the raids which were conducted in 10 out of the country's 34 provinces, according to the statement.
"The ANA also seized weapons in addition to destroying 24 militants' bunkers and strongholds," the statement noted.
The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments.
