Hailing the significance of Zhang's visit as the two countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, Trong, for his part, said he himself and the CPV Central Committee attach great importance to the friendship and partnership with China.

Trong said he is happy to see China's achievements of reform and opening up as well as its important contribution to regional and global peace and development.

Recalling his visits to China and phone conversations with General Secretary Xi, Trong said the two party leaders have reached extensive consensus on the development of the relationship between the two parties as well as the two nations and it demonstrates their confidence and determination to get along well with each other from generation to generation.

Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli arrived in Hanoi on Thursday for an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the CPV Central Committee.

Wang Jiarui, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended Friday's meeting in Hanoi.
