TIRANA - European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn on Tuesday underlined the significance of judiciary reform in Albania during the Fifth European Union (EU)-Albania High Level Dialogue held in Tirana.

"It is important that Albania pursue a comprehensive, inclusive and consistent justice reform process which is essential to increasing public trust in the judicial system," said Hahn.

"There is a need for a serious and coherent policy in the fight against organized crime and corruption, with decisive actions leading to proactive and efficient investigations, prosecutions, and final convictions," he said.

Hahn had a meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on the day, during which they discussed Albania's path to join the EU.

Rama reiterated Albania's commitment to continuing the reforms required by the integration process, saying that Tirana will fulfill its obligations.

Hahn also met respectively with Albanian President Bujar Nishani, the country's Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta and opposition leader Lulzim Basha.
