Gambia to host Liberia after Ebola ban lifts
BANJUL - Gambia Football Federation under the Ministry of Youth and Sport will now host the Liberian football club of Barak Young Controllers after ban on Ebola countries by Gambia was lifted over the weekend.
BYC, the champions of Liberia will arrive at Banjul International Airport on Wednesday morning in Banjul in the early hours, official sources confirmed to Xinhua on Wednesday.
They will play their first leg of Africa club championship against Gambian champions Real de Banjul on Saturday.
Despite the lift of the ban the officials still not yet confirm where the return leg will be played after Caf said it cannot be played in Liberia, to protect the Gambian delegation and other international match officials from the risk of catching Ebola.
The second round of the match is not yet confirm which will come from the CAF officials.
There was a huge bate before the confirmation of the venue amid Ebola fear by some authorities in Banjul.
"Now people can travel from Liberia, Guinea Conakry and Sierra Leone to Gambia while flights will also start their operation to the small West African nation of Gambia."
The Gambia lifted direct flights to and from Ebola stricken nations including Liberia meaning that Gambians can travel there as well.
