DHAKA - The Detective Branch of Bangladesh Police have arrested four suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) in capital Dhaka.
Officials said they believe one of those arrested is the head of the group's Bangladeshi wing.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told reporters on Monday that the militants -- Shakhawatul Kabir, Anwar Hossain, Rabiul Islam and Nazrul Islam -- were held from different areas of Dhaka on Sunday night.
He said two laptops and IS leaflets have been recovered from them.
The militants have traveled to neighboring countries including India and Pakistan, said the police and security officials in a press briefing on Monday.
In September last year a British citizen of Bangladeshi origin was arrested in Dhaka on suspicion of being close to the IS.
In the same month Bangladesh Police also arrested Asif Adnan, 26, and Fazle Elahi Tanzil, 24, who had allegedly been planning to go to Syria through Turkey with the help of a British citizen of Bangladeshi origin.
