7.2-magnitude quake hits S, SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - An earthquake measuring 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale hit southwest Pakistan on Saturday afternoon, said local meteorological department.

Pakistan's Meteorological Department (PMD) said on its website that a 7.2-magnitude quake hit the country's southwest Balochistan province at 12:34:13 p.m. local time with the epicenter determined to be at 27.43 degrees north latitude and 65.67 degrees east longitude.

The epicenter is very close to that of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake which hit Balochistan on Tuesday afternoon.

The focal depth of the quake is 47 kilometers under the ground, said PMD.

No immediate reports of casualties and damages have been received yet, said the department.
