Kenya's intl airport evacuated after huge fire
NAIROBI - Kenya's emergency workers have evacuated passengers after an outbreak of a huge fire at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport early Wednesday.
The fire, whose cause has not been established, started at arrival area at around 04:30 am local time (0130 GMT), and has affected the immigration services at the country's main airport, but there was not casualty reported so far.
Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) Disaster Risk Reduction Officer Daniel Mutinda told Xinhua that the immigration section of the busy airport has been cordoned off as rescue teams are striving to contain the fire.
"So far we have not established the cause of the fire which was detected at the arrival area. So far there is no casualty. Our teams are still at the site," Mutinda said.
