Sudan receives China's representative

KHARTOUM - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Wednesday received the Chinese government's representative on African affairs Zhong Jianhua.

According to a statement by the Chinese embassy in Khartoum, during the talks, the two sides exchanged view points on bilateral relations and the situations between Sudan and South Sudan.

Also on Wednesday, Zhong held talks with Sudanese Presidential Assistant Nafie Ali Nafie. Sudanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Salah Wanasi and Chinese ambassador to Sudan Luo Xiaoguang were present at the talks.

In the meantime, Zhong participated in the unofficial meetings of the 5th session of the international envoys' mechanism on Darfur crisis held on June 16-17 in El Fasher, capital of Sudan's North Darfur state.

Addressing the meetings, Zhong said "the Darfur issue is complicated and concerns the security and stability in the region. China actively supports the peace process in Darfur and wants to contribute to the realization of peace and stability in the region. "

On June 16, Zhong met in Khartoum with the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Karti, Sudanese Minister of Petroleum Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz and Sudan's chief negotiator with South Sudan Iddris Abdul-Ghader.

During the meetings, viewpoints were exchanged on the bilateral ties between Sudan and China and the relations between Sudan and South Sudan.
