HOUSTON - An international flight was diverted to the US city of Houston Wednesday morning after a passenger died on board, local media reported.
A spokesperson with the Houston Police Department confirmed that a 25-year-old Brazilian woman, who fell ill, died during the flight from Sao Paulo, according to the local TV channel ABC13.
The woman, whose name had not been released, already passed away when the plane landed on Bush International Airport in Houston at about 6:20 a.m. the report said.
The medical examiner's office took custody of the woman's body. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of her death.
The Boeing 777, which carried 220 passengers and 14 crew members, continued to fly to Dallas, the flight's original destination, after investigators interviewed other passengers, the report said.
Houston police are investigating, according to the report.
