TOKYO - Japanese Suzuki Motor Corp said on Tuesday that it will stop car sales in the United States, as it was unprofitable due to the strong yen.
The Japanese automaker said its wholly owned US subsidiary American Suzuki Motor Corp (ASMC) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company will end sales of its cars in the US mainland as soon as when the inventory runs out.
The company will concentrate its resources on other products including motorcycles.
ASMC was established in 1963, and it sells cars and motorcycles in the United States except Hawaii.
