ALGIERS - Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr al-Thani on Tuesday handed Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika a message from the Emir of Qatar on bilateral relations.

During a one-day visit to Algeria, "I've handed President Bouteflika a message from Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani on bilateral relations," the official APS news agency quoted the Qatari prime minister as saying after his meeting with Bouteflika.

He said that he had discussed with Bouteflika the situation in Syria, which stands among the most important issues for the Arab world.

Earlier, the Qatari prime minister held talks with his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmalek Sellal, in the presence of Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci.
