6 Chinese among Nigeria plane crash victims

Latest: At least six Chinese were among the 153 people on board a passenger plane which crashed near the Lagos airport in Nigeria on Sunday, Xinhua reported.

LAGOS - At least four Chinese were among the 153 people on board a passenger plane which crashed near the Lagos airport in Nigeria on Sunday, the Chinese Embassy in the West African country has confirmed.

On a separate occasion, Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)Harold Demuren told reporters that none of the passengers on board the aircraft survived.

He also said more than 40 people living inside a two-storey building were killed after the aircraft crashed into it.

The Dana Airair plane, which reportedly took off from Nigeria's capital city Abuja, crashed in a residential area in the Lagos metropolis, barely 24 hours after a Nigerian Allied Cargo airplane (also from Lagos) crash-landed in Ghana, killing at least 10 people.

After the tragic incident, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan declared three days of national mourning.
