BANGKOK - Security-related agencies at the Thai Government House called on an urgent discussion about flood prevention plan for the compound Thursday morning as flooding possibility emerged.
The government compound is located nearby Prem Prachakorn canal where its overflow started to flood canal-side buildings late Wednesday's night.
Overflow from drainage pipes began to flood areas surrounding the compound this morning, prompting concerns over inundation at the Government House.
Government and relevant agencies have been trying so hard to shield the capital, especially its inner area, from flooding as the other provinces adjacent to the city have been submerged already.
Although the governor reaffirmed this morning that he could handle the situation, Bangkok is still on the verge of flooding since massive flood waters from upstream are approaching. Early morning some northern parts of Bangkok were flooded by overflow from Prem Prachakorn.
Since the most severe floods in over 50 years have hit the country, over 300 lives have been claimed and more than 2.4 million affected. Flood waters inundated thousands of factories and wiped away many houses.
