Indian Air Force MiG-21 crashes, pilot safe

NEW DELHI - A MiG-21 Bison fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed in the northern state of Punjab on Tuesday soon after it took off for a training flight, an official said.
However, the pilot managed to eject safely, he added.
"The crash happened at 10:50 am near Shambu in the state's Patiala district after it took off Ambala on a routine training sortie. The pilot is safe," the official said.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.
