TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan may reshuffle his cabinet on Monday with an appointment of a minister responsible for reconstruction after the twin disasters in March, Kyodo News reported on Friday, citing ruling party members.

The reshuffle could be small-scale because there were objections within the ruling Democratic Party of Japan(DPJ) to such a move, according to Kyodo report.

Environment Minister Ryu Matsumoto, who is concurrently in charge of disaster management, is among candidates for the new post, the report said.

The new post was created following a relevant bill passed the parliamentary this week with support from the major opposition parties.
