DAMASCUS - Tens of hundreds of protesters on Friday rallied in Syrian cities, state-run TV reported.
According to the report, protesters took to the streets in the cities of Damascus, Homs, al-Boukamal and Deir el-Zhour.

Activists had dubbed Friday's protests as "Friday of tribes" in what it seems as an attempt to incite Syria's tribes to revolt against the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.
Al-Assad has come under mounting foreign pressure for killing and torturing peaceful pro-democracy protesters and right activists.
Unprecedented anti-government protests erupted in mid-March in the southern city of Daraa and spread into most of the Syrian cities, including the capital of Damascus. Syrian human rights groups accuse the authorities of killing over 1,000 citizens, while 10,000 others have been arrested or gone missing.
