ISLAMABAD - A local media on Saturday quoted a BBC report as saying that Ilyas Kashmiri, one of the five terrorist leaders mosted wanted by the United States, was killed in a US drone strike launched late Friday night in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of South Waziristan.
Late Friday night, at about 11:40 pm, the news came in that the US drones fired three missiles at a four-room house in the Wana area of South Waziristan, killing nine suspected militants inside the house.
One of the people killed in the strike later proved to be Ilyas Kashmiri, whose name is on a list of five most wanted terrorist leaders handed over to the Pakistani side by the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her one-day surprise visit to Pakistan on May 27.
Pakistani Prime Minister, while being asked by local media to confirm the report, said he had no such information about this.
