MOSCOW - Russia and NATO will hold a joint anti-terror drill beginning Monday, a government spokesman said Wednesday.
Nikolai Sintsov, spokesman for the Russian National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC), said the four-day drill will be Russia and NATO's first joint exercise in countering air terrorism.
"Russian and NATO fighter aircraft will take part in the Vigilant Sky-2011 counterterrorist exercise - a joint demonstration of the Cooperative Airspace Initiative (CAI) of the NATO-Russia Council," he said.
The drill is designed to prevent terror attacks using civil aircraft by sharing information about flights in Russian and NATO airspace and the coordination of interceptions of invading aircraft, the NAC said.
