WASHINGTON - China hopes that the United States could relax its export control on high-tech products, and such a move will benefit both sides, Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming said on Wednesday.

"If the United States could offer substantial trade facilitation to China and largely increase the export to China, it will help to lower the high unemployment rate of the US," he said.
Chen said China's overall foreign trade policy is to have a stable growth in foreign trade.
"We hope to achieve a greater growth in import while maintain growth in export," Chen said. "Therefore, we can have a better balanced payment under the current account."
China hopes that those countries still have a trade deficit with China could lift their export control to China.
Chen said China is highly concerned and has high hopes of the proposal made by US President Barack Obama and his administration that the United States will improve its reform on export control regime.
"We've taken note of a statement made by Obama on December 9 regarding the reform on export control of the United States," Chen said.
The United States has taken trade facilitation measures to different degrees when it comes to its trade relations with some countries.
China felt disappointed that "China has not yet got any trade facilitation measures from the United States."
Chen noted that as United States improves its reforms of the export control regime, it could give China substantial trade facilitation measures.
"This is not just good for China, but also can do so to the proposal by President Obama to double the US export in the coming five years, and can also do so to job creation to the US" he added.
