MOSCOW -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's youngest daughter is not marrying a South Korean diplomat's son, his spokesman said Friday in response to a recent South Korean newspaper report.

"A South Korean newspaper's report about the supposed marriage of Vladimir Putin's daughter is false," Dmitry Peskov was quoted by the local media as saying.

South Korea's JoongAng Ilbo reported Friday, citing an anonymous source, that the 23-year-old Yekaterina Putina is going to marry the son of a retired South Korean admiral who worked as a military attache at the South Korean Embassy in Moscow in the late 1990s.

It claimed the pair met in July 1997 at a dance party at an international school in Russia and they had been in touch since.

The paper also reported that Putina wanted to live and work in South Korea after her wedding.

Putin allegedly later gave his consent for the marriage.
