TEHRAN - Iran on Friday agreed to resume nuclear talks with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (G5+1) in November, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili said in a letter to the European Union's Foreign Affairs Chief Catherine Ashton that Iran welcomes "the willingness of G5+1 to return to the talks with Iran," a note said, a copy of which was made available to IRNA on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ashton said in Brussels on Friday morning that Iran is ready to resume talks over nuclear program.
Ashton, EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, said that she had received a letter from Iran's chief nuclear negotiator in which he agreed to resume talks after November 10.
"I think this is a very significant move," Ashton told press when attending European Council summit held in Brussels from Thursday to Friday.
"We are now in touch with Iran to agree on time and venue" of the talks, she added.
Earlier, Ashton invited Jalili in a letter to hold talks in Vienna from after November 15.
