Motorbike bomb kills 2, wounds 8 Afghanistan

GHAZNI, Afghanistan - A motorbike bomb rocked Ghazni city, the capital of Ghazni province, in south Afghanistan on Tuesday killing two persons and injuring eight others, an official said.

"The terrorists planted explosive device on a motorbike and exploded by remote control in Ghazni city this morning as a result two persons, both civilians were killed,"senior police officer Ghani Khan told Xinhua, adding that 8 others including one police and seven civilians were injured.

He put the attack on the enemies of peace, a reference used against Taliban militants but the outfit has not made comment yet.

Meantime, doctor Ibrahim Zai, the head of hospital in Ghazni city, confirmed receiving 8 injured including a police constable to the hospital.

On the other hand, witnesses at the site said that 10 persons were killed, some others were injured in the blast occurred in the morning rush hour.

Taliban militants have intensified their activities in Ghani province over the past one year. Bomb attacks and rockets fired by insurgents claimed the lives of over a dozen people mostly civilians elsewhere in Ghazni province over the past one month.
