CHICAGO - General Motors Co. is recalling 1.5 million 2007-2009 model cars, trucks and crossovers to disable a heated washer fluid system module that could pose a fire risk, the automaker said on its website Tuesday.
Most of the vehicles, 1,365,070, are in the United States; there are 98,794 affected vehicles in Canada; 26,228 in Mexico, and 38,093 exports, according to GM.
There have been no reports of injuries or crashes, GM said.
GM previously launched a similar recall in 2008 to add a fuse to address a potential electrical short, but there have been new reports of incidents since the improvement was made.
GM is offering to pay vehicle owners and lessees 100 U.S. dollars and remove the heated windshield washer fluid system, according to GM's safety recall notice
