Two Israeli soldiers killed along Gaza border

JERUSALEM: One officer and one soldier of Israeli army were killed in an exchange of fire with Palestinian militants near the border between Israel and the southern Gaza Strip Friday afternoon, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed in a statement.

Another two soldiers were wounded, said the statement, adding that one was moderately injured and one lightly, both of whom have been evacuated to a hospital for further medical care.

The crossfire broke out when IDF soldiers identified Palestinian militants were planting explosives and fired at them, according to the statement, identifying that two militants were killed.
