DENVER - Federal prosecutors say a Colorado company illegally exported technology used by the US military to South Korea, China, Russia and Turkey.

The US attorney's office in Denver announced the charge Wednesday against Rocky Mountain Instrument Co, and said the company will be forced to forfeit $1 million if convicted.

The Lafayette, Colorado-based company says it has been cooperating with the government's investigation and is working toward a plea agreement with prosecutors.

RMI manufactures optics components. Prosecutors say the company exported prisms and technical data for optics used in military applications to the four countries from April 1, 2005 to October 11, 2007.
