Clinton to meet Japan FM, discuss base issue

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will meet Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada in Hawaii on January 12 and is likely to discuss a dispute over relocating a US airbase, a State Department official said on Thursday.

"It will be a wide-ranging discussion," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters, adding that he expected the issue of relocating the US Marines' Futenma airbase in Okinawa would come up.
