KABUL: The government of Afghanistan welcomed Washington's new strategy for the post-Taliban country announced by US President Barack Obama, a press release issued by President Hamid Karzai's office said on Wednesday.
President Obama in his much-awaited strategy announced deploying additional 30,000 troops, boosting civilian aid, supporting Afghan national security forces and gradual withdrawal of his troops from Afghanistan begins in July 2011.
The press release also said that the Afghan government would spare no efforts in achieving the objectives set in the strategy.
More than 100,000 NATO-led strong troops with 68,000 of them Americans are presently stationed in Afghanistan to help ensure peace in the war-shuttered country.
