Chinese Kun Opera staged in UNESCO headquarters in Paris

A show of "Peony Pavilion", a well-known Chinese traditional Kunqu Opera, at the headquarters of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, capital of France, Nov 17, 2009. A performance staged by China's Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe debuted at the headquarters of UNESCO on Tuesday night. Regarded as "the mother of all operas", Kunqu has a long history of over 500 years and is one of China's extant oldest dramatic forms. It was listed as one of the 19 inaugural "Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO in 2001.[Xinhua]
