JAKARTA: Earthquake survivors in Indonesia's Padang Pariaman regency looted food aid from the regent office, claiming that they have not received yet any help, the private TV station MetroTV reported on Sunday.
They looted boxes of instant noodle, mineral water and food supplement on Saturday night. They claimed that they were not patient to get the aid because rules require them to bring an information letter from chief of village or sub district. Padang Pariaman regency along with Padang town and Pariaman regency are the hardest hits by the earthquake. Report said that the aid was centered in Padang as the provincial capital city of West Sumatra, making people outside the area feel that they are neglected by the central and local governments. |
