DPRK top leader says country improving

PYONGYANG: Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said the country was taking on the appearance of a thriving nation step by step in various fields, the official KCNA news reported on Saturday.

Kim said that the people's way of thinking, their dressing style and diet, and the country's economy, and the landscape of streets and villages, were improving steadily, when he made inspections in different parts of Pyongyang, the KCNA reported, without giving the date.

Kim called on people to continue to display their revolutionary spirits to build the "great prosperous and powerful nation."

The top leader made several visits to factories and farms recently.
