UNITED NATIONS: Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi Wednesday blamed few countries for using military powers against others and called upon all UN member states to act to stop the aggression.

Gaddafi, who is also chairman of the African Union, held a copy of the UN Charter while he was addressing the general debate of the UN General Assembly and criticized few countries for staging military strikes on others.

"If there is an aggression against one country, the whole United Nations should act to check this aggression," he said.

Gaddafi also said that he does not accept the power of veto on the UN Security Council and called for the creation of a new Security Council where all countries have equal votes, just like the practice in the UN General Assembly, where any country, big or small, has one vote.

Quoting from a copy of the UN Charter in his hand, Gaddafi called for equality for all nations in the United Nations. He described the UN as being undemocratic, saying that democracy is for rich countries only.
