WASHINGTON:U.S. President Barack Obama will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit set to be held in Singapore in November, said the White House on Thursday.

Presidential Spokesman Robert Gibbs confirmed at a press conference that Obama would go to the 17th summit of the 21-nation APEC from November 14 to 15.

"President Obama looks forward to working with APEC leaders to promote open trade and investment, support economic recovery and sustainable development and address key challenges facing the region and the world," said the spokesman.

Gibbs also said that the president also looks forward to visiting Singapore, which is "an important partner on a range of regional and global issues," and other countries during the trip.

However, no details about the trip were available as of now, he added.
