Commenting on the induction of nuclear submarine in the Indian Navy, spokesman of Pakistan Navy Salman Ali said Indian nuclear submarine will leave far-reaching effects not only on Pakistan but also on the Indian Ocean and adjoining coastal countries.

It is a step towards destabilizing the entire region, which could be dangerous for regional peace and balance, he added.

The spokesman was quoted as saying that the Pakistani government will decide about manufacturing of nuclear submarine as its Navy is fully prepared to materialize any decision of government.

India launched its first nuclear-powered submarine on Sunday. The submarine, the first of five planned, is powered by an 85-megawatt nuclear reactor and can reach 44 kilometers an hour underwater, according to defence officials. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called it a "historic milestone in the country's defence preparedness."
