HANOI -- Vietnam has planned to build an industrial zone and sea port in Hai Ha district and an airport in Van Don district of the southern Quang Ninh province of Vietnam, the local newspaper Vietnam News reported Tuesday.

The decision was announced during a working visit by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to the northeastern province of Quang Ninh on Monday.

"Building the Hai Ha sea port is essential in the strategy for the economic cooperation development plan in the northern economic region," Dung said.

Dung applauded Mong Cai city, a city in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh of Vietnam for its socio-economic achievements, helping to guarantee the national defense and security, and building the friendly cooperation relations with localities on the border between Vietnam and China.

As the border city in the northeast of the country, holding an important position on the trans-Asian route, a gateway among Vietnam, China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, Mong Cai City should promote its strength and potential to live up to its status as "Two Corridors, One Belt", said Dung.
