Updated: 2008-08-07 14:46 MEXICO CITY -- Discrimination against homosexuals continued to foment the spreading of HIV in some countries, an official of the International AIDS Society (IAS) said Wednesday. He said the IAS considers the reduction of social exclusion of homosexuals an absolute priority for all countries. About 25,000 scientists, policymakers and physicians gathered in Mexico City to attend the six-day conference, with the aim of searching for better ways to stem the spread of the disease. The international conference, which began Sunday, is the largest regular HIV/AIDS-related meeting organized by the IAS, the world's leading independent association of HIV/AIDS professionals. |
