2 Indonesian drug factory bosses sentenced to death(Xinhua)Updated: 2006-11-07 14:34 JAKARTA - A district court in Indonesia has sentenced two men to death for running drug factory at a village in the Jakarta suburb of Tangerang, The Jakarta Post newspaper reported Tuesday. Benny Sudrajat, alias Andreas Indrijatno, and Budi Sucipto, alias Iming Santoso, were found guilty of operating one of Asia 's biggest ecstasy plants. They were also found guilty of producing the chemical ingredients used to make the drug. The Tangerang Court also handed down life sentences to Frenchman Serge Areski Atloui and Dutch national Nicolaas Garnic Josephus for facilitating the production of the drug. They were also fined 750 million rupiah (US$82,281) each. The factory was capable of producing 300,000 ecstasy pills per week, some destined for overseas markets, prosecutors said. They said police seized an estimated 142 million dollars worth of ecstasy, methamphetamines and chemical ingredients from the site. |
