LAGOS -- Unspecified number of persons, including children, are feared dead from an explosion that rocked the Malkohi camp of Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Yola, Nigeria's northeast Adamawa on Friday.
Reports from the area said the blast went off from one of the tents with yet-to-be-determined reported number of casualties.
Sa'ad Bello of the National Emergency Management Agency, who confirmed the blast, said: "Yes there's a report of suspected blast and I am on my way to the camp."
Also confirming the development, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Haruna Furo, said "We are on our way to the camp with the state's deputy governor."
Malkohi camp is composed predominantly of IDPs from Cameroun and Borno State, the epicenter of Boko Haram activities.
