The exercises, which involved helicopters, shoulder-fired rockets and various types of self-propelled artillery, were important to implementing the ruling Workers' Party of Korea's military and strategic policy, Kim said.
He instructed the Korean People's Army to carry out frequent similar military drills in the future, according to the KCNA.
It was the second time Kim had inspected the army since he reappeared in public view on Oct 14. The KCNA reported Sunday that he guided a takeoff and landing drill of fighter pilots on a highway-airfield.
