LA PAZ - The European Union (EU) will help Bolivia improve its justice administration at the request of the government of President Evo Morales, local media reported Thursday.

The EU will grant some $383 million in the next seven years for the cooperation program, the Pagina Siete daily quoted EU representative Timothy Torlot in Bolivia as saying.

Torlot said the EU invested 1 million euros ($1.3 million) in a program to train judges in Bolivia in 2013, which was the base for the new initiative focusing on technical training of judicial officials in accordance with EU guidelines.

The EU envoy said that cooperative projects will continue in water and environment as well as in combating drug-trafficking.
