WASHINGTON - The United States, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will hold a trilateral meeting regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula next week, State Department announced in a statement Friday.

U.S. Special Representative for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Glyn Davies will host the  trilateral meeting with representatives from Japan and ROK in Washington Wednesday to exchange views on a wide range of issues related to the DPRK, said the statement.

The delegation from ROK will be led by the country's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Cho Tae-yong, while the Japanese delegation will be headed by Japanese Foreign Ministry's Director General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Shinsuke Sugiyama, according to the statement.

The ROK and DPRK on Monday agreed on working-level talks in the border village of Panmunjom to hold their first high-level talks in six years, but the talks were called off Tuesday due to disagreement over the level of chief delegates.
