Tony F. Chan, president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), visits the Bay Area, San Francisco, with his delegation on Feb 24. At a luncheon hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Chan shares his thoughts on how Hong Kong can become a technology hub for China. Hong Kong plays a leading role in science and technology innovation with its world-class universities and scientists, the educated population, rule of law, and protection of intellectual property. Its closeness to the robust manufacturing base in the Pearl River Delta, will help Hong Kong succeed, Chan said.[PALO ALTO/PROVIDED TO CHINA DAILY] |
