Tigerair recently announced a new nonstop flight between Wuxi city in East China's Jiangsu province, and Singapore, on four days a week.

Starting April 28, it will add to the airline's existing dozen direct flights from China to Singapore, including from Guangzhou, Haikou and Hong Kong.

The Sunan Shuofang International Airport in southern Jiangsu that serves both Wuxi and nearby Suzhou has been expanding rapidly in recent years, according to Ho Yuen Sang, Tigerair's managing director and chief operating officer. The new service will help more leisure and business travels in the region, he said.

Chinese visitors usually travel to Singapore for shopping and sightseeing, among other activities.
